Resident Spotlight: Mary Jefvert
Friends would describe Mary Jefvert as kind, softhearted and giving. She has lived in our assisted living community for nine months.
Mary says her favorite part of her life here is the friends she has made and the staff. Cultivating friendships is a key component of our care philosophy. The building was designed for social engagement. Common areas feel open and inviting and are well-appointed with nine-foot ceilings, comfy couches and relaxing nooks. They make ideal spots to get to know neighbors or converse with visiting friends and family. Our fireside library and theater room are also popular gathering areas for personal pursuits and enjoying the arts with others.
Hobbies and Interests.
Mary appreciates the activities and programs within our community. Her hobbies and favorite things to do include our balloon volleyball class and our walking club. Rose Estates is conveniently located in a popular Overland Park, Kansas, neighborhood where residents can stroll outside and enjoy a neighborly, small-town community feel.
Autonomy and Choice.
Our assisted living community balances the independence residents want and the care they need while respecting their individuality. We assist with the tasks of daily living and provide customized health services like Mary utilizes. Deciding what to eat, what activities to participate in and how to live each day is always the residents’ choice.
Mary’s Proudest Accomplishment.
Mary worked in medical records at the University of Kansas Medical Center for 30 years. After retirement, she performed a lot of volunteer work and still does. She has plenty of available time to help others since our community is maintenance-free.
When asked what her proudest accomplishment has been, she said, “I am proudest of taking care of my parents, especially my mom.”
